At, Thursday 25 Augusts 2011 I  get opportunity to pilot the ship  Yuan Jing that is special cargo heavy load ship (Specialized Weight Cargo Ship) that is special ship for carrying heavy load cargo. Pilotage is started from Musi River estuary threshold to Port of Palembang. That Ship loads 3 units Quay Container Crane (QCC) that is tool of container loading and unloading in container quay from Port of Shanghai, China. That Ship have length LOA 144m with wide 31.20m and widest together Quay Container Crane (QCC) entire 61.20m. Whereas third Quay Container are referred as to improve container service in Port of Palembang, Port of Panjang and Port of Pontianak.

Like news that forwarded on Daily Kompas in 26 Augusts 2011 that to anticipate growth of container current in Port of Palembang that average reach 10.000 twenty foot equivalent unitses (TEUs) or size container 20 feet per month, management Indonesian Corporation Port  II Branch Port of Palembang will extend open storage.

Planned in 2012, open storage in container terminal is extended one hectare until can accomodate around 1.320 TEUses.  Container Yard is referred cover by yard ex house on duty manager that can accomodate 660 TEUs and yard ex  PT Tania Selatan that can accommodate capacity in common between 600-700 TEUs.

Thursday (25/8/2011) yesterday, has came 1 unit Quay Container Crane property Indonesian Corporation Port II that ordered from China start Roll Off in warf container terminal Boom Baru Palembang, and hereinafter QCC are referred as test drived and ready to October operation 2011.

Equipments Next step 4 units RGMC and 4 units Gantry Jib Crane will equip container terminal and terminal conventional. It is true addition of loading and unloading equipments in port have not already can be bargained next for handling of container loading and unloading. Predicted up to November 2011 this container current pass by Palembang reaches more than 100.000 TEUs       
       
Meanwhile in 2009, container volume as high as 85.000 TEUs, went up became 87.000 TEUs in last (2010). Then till this in the middle of the (till Juli 2011) has reached 70.000 TEUs.              
Improvement of container current has been seen start year-end 2010, that average per month reach 7.000 TEUs. Later, in five month last this, has reached more than 10.000 TEUs

Expected with this addition of loading and unloading equipments, will be able to improved two-time productivity of a recently loading and unloading.
